What’s next in the SISTERS project?

Following the initial project phase and joint work of the partner organisations, the next stage of the SISTERS project focuses on the implementation of a training programme aimed at strengthening equality and inclusion in sport.

Through the development of a tailored training programme, the project addresses the understanding of gender equality, intersectionality and unfair norms that influence access to, participation in and experiences within sport. Particular emphasis is placed on building safe and inclusive sporting environments and strengthening the capacities of those working with athletes and young people.

The training programme aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to promote fair, responsible and inclusive practices in sport. Learning outcomes are tailored to athletes and young athletes, as well as coaches, sport managers and sport staff.

Through the training, participants enhance their understanding of gender sensitivity and equality in sport, develop the ability to recognise discrimination, violence and unequal treatment, and strengthen skills related to safe communication, conflict resolution and inclusive governance within sporting organisations and teams.

The SISTERS project is implemented by an international partnership of organisations from Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the project is implemented by Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures (SMOC).
