The MAST – MAking Sustainable Tourism Possible Final Conference, held in Urbino, marked the conclusion of the project’s study phase and an important milestone for all partner organisations involved.

As a project partner, Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures (SMOC) actively contributed to the implementation of MAST by supporting the development, testing and dissemination of project results aimed at improving sustainability practices in the accommodation sector. A particular focus of SMOC’s work was on ensuring that project outputs remain accessible and applicable for small and medium-sized enterprises, while being aligned with ISO 21401:2018, the international standard for sustainable management systems in tourism accommodation.

Throughout the project lifecycle, SMOC participated in joint analytical work, partner exchanges and stakeholder-oriented activities, contributing local perspectives and practical insights that strengthened the relevance of MAST deliverables across different Mediterranean contexts.

The final conference brought together partners and external experts to present project results, discuss challenges and future perspectives for sustainable tourism, and explore opportunities for synergies with other initiatives. During the concluding round table discussion, SMOC joined partner organisations in reflecting on key lessons learned and the potential for further uptake and amplification of MAST outcomes beyond the project’s duration.

With the closure of the MAST project, SMOC remains committed to promoting sustainable, responsible and quality-driven tourism practices, building on the experience and partnerships developed through this transnational cooperation.
