The DiCultYouth project aims to nurture young experts and open new career paths in the cultural sector by developing basic IT knowledge and skills needed for a career in the cultural heritage sector. The project will try to improve the employability of young people who have not graduated and unemployed young people, as well as young people with educational experience in the humanities who want to work in digital archiving, interpretation of museums and heritage, curation and education in cultural heritage, by creating an innovative online education module with an emphasis on the acquisition of digital skills related to European cultural heritage. There is a need to equip the growing youth workforce with the skills needed for future jobs, not to mention re-equipping the current workforce with the skills needed to keep up with a changing world. The project aims to promote access to culture through digital ways.
Cultural heritage is an area of infinite possibilities. Combined with the use of new technologies, culture can become an important area to increase the economic and social goals of Europe according to the Europe 2020 strategy. The use of information and communication technology (ICT), to access cultural heritage, is a social demand supported by European policymakers.
