PRESS RELEASE MULTIPLIER EVENT

Building fairer and more inclusive societies has become an ever-growing challenge with young people lacking concrete tools for participating in community life. Sports can play an important role in enhancing the connection among different social groups and promoting a sense of belonging to a shared community.

The ORIENT project chose orienteering as a grass-root initiative capable of promoting the active participation of vulnerable young people.

But… what is orienteering? It is an exciting and challenging sport that combines body and mind in the outdoors! Orienteering is for everyone and can take place anywhere, across natural landscapes or modern urban settings. By orienting yourself in the surrounding environment with a map and a compass, you are invited to notice what’s around you and discover your local realities and its cultural heritage.

Orienteering has proved to be a valuable instrument to support healthy lifestyles, develop new skills and build social bonds. For this reason, the ORIENT project developed a set of resources, methodologies and tools based on the use of orienteering for social inclusion. We will spend an afternoon sharing the results and experiences of the participants of the ORIENT project activities and discovering our local context during the multiplier event. The event will take place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina on May 29th, 2023.
