SMOC in Heraklion, Greece

Organized by the City of Heraklion in Crete, Greece, a conference under the title “Year-round tourism in Heraklion – an opportunity or a myth” was held on December 7, 2017. The conference was initiated by the City of Heraklion to strengthen the local tourism development capacity in the city. The conference was based on the need to strengthen tourism throughout the 365 days of the year. At the initiative of the Deputy Mayor for Tourism of Heraklion – Gian Andrea Paolo Garancini, representatives of Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures, Dr. Dino Mujkić and Jana Čarkadžić attended this conference.

Dr. Dino Mujkić and Jana Čarkadžić gave an introductory speech on tourism development trends: Challenges and Opportunities: Promoting Sarajevo’s Tourism Potential – Case Study Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures. Over 180 participants from the City of Heraklion participated in this event. The diverse stakeholder body of participants constituted of directors of museums, airports, tourism organizations, tourism associations, hotel owners, travel agencies, higher education institutions, institutes, and other relevant stakeholders in the tourism development process in Heraklion.
